Aims:
To provide people with the opportunity to engage in extra-curricula activities or skills training.
To provide funding to existing locally based projects who are in financial need to continue or expand their work.
Examples of Successful Projects:
Supporting an environmental project (HEEP) to provide the practical aspects of the environmental curriculum to 2500 children per year from disadvantaged areas who would not otherwise have access to the practical elements of the school curriculum related to the environment.
Supporting a youth leadership project, also managed by HEEP.
In the five year period 2010 to 2015, we are focusing on the following core areas of activity:
Future Projects:
Continue to support existing projects.
Identify and provide support to an existing youth leadership project in the Western Cape aiming to develop skills of young people through outdoor adventure training.
How These Projects Will be Evaluated:
Reviewing annual reports provided by the projects.
Interviewing the service users of the projects (school teachers, young people, learners, women receiving adult education) to establish if the services are delivering on their stated goals.
